Winter temperatures greatly reduce the life of our car batteries, whilst we can not have an effect on the cold temperatures, we can prepare for it, in this article we will tell you what to do and what not to do to protect your car battery much better, making sure it won't die on you when you need it most!
Avoid this at all costs!
When you first get into your car the biggest and worst mistake you can make is putting the heating on full blast and hottest temperature, after which you turn on the radio!
This is the worst thing you can do to your battery, you are putting a lot of stress on a cold battery to preform all of these tasks!
When you get into the car put the heater on at the lowest setting and gradually with time you can increase it as your car warms up and prepares the battery for the task. Don't turn your radio on for a while, let your car warm up, then turn the radio on.
If you need to ventilate your car roll your windows down and the fresh air will clean your windows and ventilate your car.
Check your battery
Making sure your car battery works as intended is the most important factor of all, if you have an older car or have not changed your battery for sometime make sure to get it checked before winter arrives!
Your car battery deteriorates with time, corrosion forms, debris appears, making sure your battery is working fine and supporting your car is very important. You do not want to get stranded, during winter because you didn't check or change your battery.
